june is always so meh. it's too hot to be outside, but too nice to be inside, and in the end i always end up floating between the two which results in just enough sweat that i feel like i need to shower three times a day. it's just unpleasant. for example, sam and i are in the middle of a long-planned but only recently-started project where we're attempting to recreate one of alasko's wall panels for our apartment. i'll post photos once it's completely done.
originally, i wanted a headboard but recently i've been leaning toward full bed frames (like this frame from ikea - the jury is still out on whether or not it's quality and if we'll end up purchasing it), so a wall panel was an acceptable alternative. obviously, it lacks the perfection that she's known for, but for $20 in supplies and my dad's old jigsaw from the 90s, it's a decent alternative to the $625 she charges for her standard size. and, once you get used to the angles, it's kind of fun. we might do a larger scale project in the future. i'm thinking they're the perfect gifts for something.
sam has been such a trooper, too. midway through the project, when we realized that we would have to dismantle everything and start from scratch, i threw myself a pity party and went upstairs with benny to take a nap while sam stayed in the heat, dripping sweat while he fixed everything. usually i'm the calm and collected one, but throw me in the heat and i'm unpredictable. i'm grateful for his patience.
